Two apartments upstairs. One for the groomsman and the other for the driver, plus their families.

Today, Molly's Cafe is in the old stables section.

The other area is where the gift shop is today.

The gate lodge originally was ment for the gatekeeper and his family.

Daughter, Irene Harrison spent the last several decades of his life living in the gate lodge.

Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob Smith founded AA with the help of daughter-in-law, Henrietta Seiberling in the Gate Lodge.

The Family

The following pictures are just of the Seiberling family. They are of only those who had a part in Stan Hywet Hall.

These two family portraits were taken at the same time with a few moving to different locations. This was in 1910 while the Seiberlings still lived in their West Market Street home. Before Stan Hywet was built.

Again, this set of pictures were taken at the same sitting in 1917 when son, Fred was home on leave from the Army. These were taken in front of the music room fireplace at Stan Hywet.

Franklin Augustus Seiberling.October 6, 1859 to August 11, 1955. Known as F.A. Seiberling.

Gertrude "Penfield" Seiberling. January 23, 1866 to January 8, 1946. Wife of F.A. Seiberling.

John Frederick Seiberling. July 24, 1888 to July 15, 1962. Known as "Fred".

Irene "Seiberling" Harrison. February 25, 1890 to January 21, 1999.

Willard Penfield Seiberling. January 28, 1892 to April 3, 1981.

James Penfield Seiberling. July 3, 1898 to October 12, 1982. Known as "Penfield".

Virginia "Seiberling" Handy. November 28, 1899 to May 17, 1971.

Grace Lanona Seiberling. 1901 to 1901. Died at less than a year old.

Franklin Augustus Seiberling Jr. May 25, 1908 to January 24, 1990.

Extended Family ~

F.A. Seiberling's parents: John Frederick Seiberling, March 10, 1834 to September 3, 1903.and Catherine Lucinda "Miller" Seiberling, May 28, 1836 to May 10, 1911.

Gertrude's parents, James Penfield, 1829 to April 20, 1897 and Elsie Penfield, February 1839 to June 9, 1917.

"Auntie" Stevens was an elderly nursemaid to son Franklin Seiberling Jr. This was at the house on West Market Street before Stan Hywet was built.
